Frank L. Baker IIItransactions. Mr. Baker joined Frank Bakers practice covers the full range of real estate conveyancing, real estate financing, commercial leasing, joint ventures for real estate development, and tax-advantaged Robinson & Cole as a partner in our Stamford office in July 1995. Prior to joining our firm, he practiced law for over twenty years with a New York-based international law firm. During that time, he also served on that firms executive committee and as the managing partner of its Connecticut office. Since joining Robinson & Cole, Mr. Baker has been the responsible partner at the firm on the following matters, among others. Mr. Baker has lectured on various topics of interest to the bar, including advanced courses on commercial leasing and financing. His most recent article, on handling of multistate real property transactions, was published in the Connecticut Law Tribunes real estate supplement in 1997. He is a graduate of Yale University and the University of Virginia Law School where he was a member of the Law Review. Mr. Baker currently serves as president of the Yale Club of Stamford, and as a member of the board of the Stamford Center for the Arts.
Brian W. Blaesser Brian Blaesser heads our Land Use and Development Group in Boston where focuses his practice on commercial and residential real estate development, including senior housing facilities, environmental law, land use law, condemnation law and litigation. Mr. Blaesser represents real estate owners, investors and developers in analyzing and securing requisite land use and development approvals from local governments, negotiating and drafting development agreements and handling development projects which involve a wide range of environmental transactional and regulatory permitting matters with the U.S. EPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He also works with developers and local governments around the country in structuring public/private partnerships and transactions using public financing mechanisms to achieve economic development objectives, and is experienced in financial institutions law practice, including transactional work such as commercial loan negotiations and closings. Mr. Blaesser has extensive experience in state and federal trial and appellate courts in real estate and land use litigation. He is author or co-author of numerous publications including the books, Discretionary Land Use Controls: Avoiding Invitations to Abuse of Discretion (Clark Boardman Callahan: 1997) and Condemnation of Property: Practice and Strategies for Winning Just Compensation (Wiley Law Publications: 1994); and articles including, "Impact Fees: The Second Generation," 38 Journal of Urban and Contemporary Law 401 (1990); "Negotiating Entitlements," in Urban Land (December 1991). Mr. Blaesser is the appointed chair of the National Environmental Subcommittee of the National Association of Industrial Office Properties (NAIOP). He is also a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and Lambda Alpha International, the honorary land economics society. Mr. Blaesser received his B.A. from Brown University, cum laude and his J.D. from Boston College where he served as an editor of the Law Review. He also holds a masters in city planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was a Fulbright Scholar.
Elizabeth L. Brennan Liz Brennan, a partner in our Stamford office, practices primarily in the areas of commercial real estate and construction law. She is co-chair of the firm s Construction Law Group. Ms. Brennan regularly represents Fortune 500 corporations in complex commercial lease negotiations for office, commercial, biotech and retail space. She serves as in-house counsel for a Connecticut-based corporation overseeing the legal work for its worldwide real estate interests including Europe, Asia, Australia, and North and South America. She works in tandem with our Hartford and Boston offices to provide real estate support in connection with multimillion dollar asset and stock purchases. She also handles sophisticated multistate mortgage financing transactions with experience representing both lenders and borrowers. Ms. Brennan has significant experience in the preparation and negotiation of construction contracts and has worked on projects ranging from State of Connecticut courthouses to retail and office buildings. She is currently negotiating a $200 million construction contract for an office/biotech project in eastern Connecticut and architect agreements for a $20 million retail project in Greenwich. She also recently completed representation of a biotech company in a major retrofit and expansion of laboratory and office space in a technology park in New Haven, Connecticut. She is admitted to the bar in Connecticut and New York and to the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. She is also a member of the American Bar Association and the Connecticut Bar Association and a committee member of the ABA Construction Forum, the CBA Real Property Section and the CBA Construction Law Section. She is also a member of the Greenwich Bar Association. Ms. Brennan received her B.A. in American studies from Trinity College and her J.D. from University of Connecticut School of Law. Last year, as vice president of the board of the Gateway School in Greenwich, Connecticut, she completed work on a successful merger with the Family Centers, Inc. to ensure the continued success of the Gateway School in its mission to provide daycare services to Greenwich residents of all income levels. She is currently serving on the board of the Stamford City Ballet.
Richard A. Krantz Richard Krantz's practice covers a broad range of corporate and securities transactions, including representation of issuers and underwriters in both public and private securities offerings, acquisitions, mergers, restructurings and joint ventures. In addition, he represents public companies with respect to their reporting and disclosure obligations and other regulatory requirements. Mr. Krantz's practice also includes general corporate matters, including franchises, distributorships, financings, spin-offs and rights offerings. Mr. Krantz is admitted to practice in Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts. He received his B.A. from Johns Hopkins University and his J.D. from Harvard University.
